Load Percentage with possibility of hourly work

Primarily the job will be hauling waste and recyclable material from our three Homewood Disposal transfer stations in Homewood, Park Forest and Valparaiso, Inidiana to landfills. The job also includes hauling wrecking loads from demolition jobs at various sites and transporting them directly to the landfill. The driver will also use walking floor trailers to transport loads for destruction from warehouses to landfills. This is a 142 union job based out of our Gary, Indiana shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Hauling trash and demolition material from various sites
• Keeping company equipment clean and in working order
• Being able to find various job sites either using maps or GPS
• Confirm understanding of customer needs, issues, and requests
• Report to work on time for daily start time
• Being able to climb ladder in order to tarp trailer
• Must be able to drive truck with manual transmission
• Must be willing to work long hours in all types of weather conditions
• Class A CDL required with clean driving record
• Must complete paperwork daily: Customer tickets and Vehicle Condition Reports
• Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned

Education and Expereince

• Class A CDL Required. Clean driving record
• 4 years experience driving tractor trailer
• Previous work in garbage industry is a plus
• Dump trailer experience a plus

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

• Showing up to work daily and on time for assigned start time
• Completing all paperwork and turning it in daily
• Having the ability to learn other job classifications in the industry such as roll-off truck work, semi dump trailers, and semi stinger tail trailer roll-off.
